For your agent
Set up anywhere
This page is for an AI agent, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, whose user asked it to set up anywhere. Follow the steps in order, run the commands yourself, and stop only where a step says the user must act. When you’re done, the user has an anywhere account, this machine’s anywhere CLI is signed in to it, and you can deploy their apps.
1. Install the CLI
Run:
curl -fsSL https://anywhere.so/install.sh | sh
It installs anywhere into ~/.local/bin, on macOS 13 or later and on Linux on x86_64, and the anywhere skill for Claude Code and Codex in ~/.claude/skills/anywhere and ~/.agents/skills/anywhere. If your sandbox blocks the network, ask the user to allow anywhere.so, then run it again.
Then find it with command -v anywhere || ls ~/.local/bin/anywhere. If only ~/.local/bin/anywhere exists, that folder isn’t on PATH: run it by that full path wherever this page says anywhere.
2. Check whether it’s signed in
Run anywhere apps list. If it lists apps, or says there are none, the CLI is already signed in: go to step 4. not_signed_in, unauthenticated or native_authority_denied means sign in, as in step 3. With any other error, do what its message says.
3. Have the user sign in
Run anywhere login in the background, since it waits up to 10 minutes for the user. Without a background mode, run log="$(mktemp)"; nohup anywhere login > "$log" 2>&1 & and read that file. On standard error it prints a link to https://anywhere.so/cli-login and a code.
Give the user that link and the code, and nothing else to open, with these words or close to them:
Open this link and sign in with Google or GitHub. If you’re new to anywhere, that creates your account: pick a username when it asks. Then check the page shows the code CODE and press Approve.
Never approve it yourself, and never ask the user for a token or password. Once they approve, the command saves the sign-in in ~/.config/anywhere/credentials.json and exits. With cli_login_expired, run it again and give the user the new link. With any other error, do what its message says.
4. Check, and hand over
Run anywhere apps list again; it should succeed. Then tell the user, in a sentence or two, that anywhere is set up: their apps go live at addresses only they can open until they share them, and they appear on their home screen at https://anywhere.so. Ask what they’d like to build and deploy first.
Before you build anything, read the skill the installer wrote, ~/.claude/skills/anywhere/SKILL.md or ~/.agents/skills/anywhere/SKILL.md. It says how to make an app and deploy it. Agents that load skills when a session starts pick it up by themselves next time.
